Travel info
Baggage allowance
What you can bring in the cabin and in the hold, and how to avoid paying airport rates.
Cabin baggage
Each passenger may bring one piece of hand baggage within these limits:
- Maximum weight: 5 kg
- Maximum dimensions: 55 x 35 x 25 cm
A bag that is within the weight limit but larger than these dimensions must travel in the hold, and a charge applies.
Checked baggage
- Standard fares include 10 kg of checked baggage per passenger.
- Smart Fares include up to 23 kg of checked baggage per passenger.
- Infants not occupying a seat have no baggage allowance.
Baggage that has not been booked in advance is charged at the airport rate, which is double the published online rate. Book any extra weight before you travel.
Electronic devices
- You must be able to switch a device on at the security checkpoint. Anything that cannot be activated has to go in the hold.
- Mobile phones must remain switched off for the whole flight.
- Devices normally accepted in the cabin include laptops, cameras and photographic equipment, voice recorders, calculators, handheld music players and portable games.
Not allowed in the cabin
For safety and security reasons these items must be checked in rather than carried on board:
- Knives, blades, scissors, ice picks, nail clippers and similar sharp objects
- Batons, whips, stun guns and other weapons
- Toy or replica guns, and handcuffs
- Sports equipment such as bats, golf clubs, hockey sticks and cues
- Anything containing spillable batteries
- Liquids, gels and aerosols over 100 ml, including perfume, hairspray and alcohol-based medicine
- Baby strollers
- Anything else local authorities treat as a security risk, or any item that works like the above
Items taken by the authorities at the boarding gate may not be returned to you.
Personal items you may carry
- Phones, laptops and portable music players
- Non-metallic nail files
- Needles or syringes for your own medical use, with the guard fitted and the medication in its original labelled packaging
Baggage sizers are available at check-in and at the entrance to the departure hall. Please check your bag against them before heading through — oversized hand baggage may be turned back at the door.
Damaged baggage
Damage must be reported at the airport, on arrival, and recorded in writing on the damaged or lost baggage form before you leave. Claims raised later cannot be accepted.
Each case is assessed individually. The following are not treated as damage:
- Scratches and scuffs
- Minor dents
- Zips that are open or misaligned
Compensation for a damaged bag is limited to USD 100 per bag. We are not responsible for cash, bank cards, jewellery, cameras, computers or other valuables packed in checked baggage — always carry these with you in the cabin.
